Ich finde es ja immer nett, wenn Leute versuchen mit Ihrer Software einen Weg zu gehen, der sich abseits vom dem bewegt, was man so täglich auf den Desktop bekommt. Nicht, dass ich meinen würde, dass diese Programme umbedingt nutzenswert wären oder besonders benutzerfreundlich. Naja, möglicherweise sind sie das sogar, aber dadurch, dass man sich schon so an die ’normalen‘ Programme gewöhnt hat, ist man eben völlig verdorben.

3DOSX gehört mE zu diesen Programmen. Der Finder ist mal anders aufgebaut, man bewegt sich 3dimensional durch seine Dateistruktur (auch wenn das in der Umsetzung vielleicht noch nicht so dolle aussieht).

Die Autoren beschreiben ihr Produkt eher rational:
3DOSX is a fully functional, 3D file system browser. It allows you to open multiple folder and disk hierarchies and move about them in three dimensions.

Almost everything you do in the finder can be done in the same way using 3DOSX. (To open a file or expand a folder, double-click it. To Get Info, hit Command-I.) As you browse your file system, folders will expand into „platters“ containing all items within that folder. To scroll through a large list of items, click and hold on the platter and move your mouse to the left or right. If the platter is not big enough to display every item, it hides some of them in a „magic box“ in back. As you scroll, items will disappear into the magic box and reappear as you scroll in the other direction.

Finde ich wirklich nett. Also nicht, dass ich es jetzt nutzen würde, aber die Idee zählt! Und jede weitere, neue Version werde ich mir auch ansehen.

Erinnert sich ausser mir vielleicht noch jemand an diesen Ansatz im Web anno 1997/98, bei dem man auf ähnliche Weise sich Webseiten ansehen konnte. Ich habe leider keine Ahnung mehr, wie das hiess, weiss nur noch, dass man ein Plugin brauchte und das das ziemlich abgefahren war …
