TextExtras is usually installed in ~/Library/InputManagers. Once there all Cocoa applications will load it and it's features will be available. It will be loaded by any Cocoa application that is launched after it has ben installed. The bundle will attempt to add an extra menu to the Format menu of the application. You can control this with the Preferences panel.

Ob dieses System-Plug-In nützlich ist oder nicht finde ich nicht so spannend (möglicherweise sogar sehr nützlich). Interessant ist auf jeden Fall, dass es sich um ein Plug-In handelt und im Quellcode vorliegt und so evtl. auch als Vorlage/Hilfestellung dienen kann.
