Kennt man ja mittlerweile vom Auto über das Handy bis hin zur elektrischen Zahnbürste. Die Entwickler haben egschlampt oder die Technik hat sich überholt, wie auch immer, eine neue Firmware muss aufgespielt werden. Das sind dann immer diese lustigen Aktionen, wo man sich vorher seitenlang durchlesen muss, was nicht alles hin ist, wenn was schief geht.

Und – oh Wunder – selbst beim Mac gibt es sowas auch. Bei MacInTouch gibt es zu dem Thema ein paar interessante Beiträge, u.a.

[...] Having been stuck with an iMac in that kind of “I’m not going to play with you” mode, albeit for different reasons, might I offer a few tips. Try:
1. Zapping the PRAM via the keyboard;
2. Booting into Open Firmware and resetting things from there;
3. Removing a strip of memory, and trying steps 1 & 2 above;
4. Removing the battery, after unplugging the iMac from the wall and leave it overnight.

If you’re desperate, determined or both you could also try partially dismantling the iMac, use (d) above, replace the battery, locate the logic board reset button and press it JUST ONCE. (Two presses have been known to drain the battery in a couple of days.) Put the iMac back together, plug it in and hope.
