I went ahead and blew my USB-BlueTooth adapter by applying the Apple 1.4 firmware updater and now it no longer works. schreibt eine Leser bei MacInTouch. Nach ein bischen Recherche hat der gute Mann eine Seite des Herstellers Asante gefunden, die da ziemlich deutlich warnen, man möge nicht das BlueTooth-Update einspielen:

Using the OS X Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater will permanently destroy this device (and void its product warranty) as indicated by this note on the Apple site:
" The Bluetooth Updater is for D-Link USB Adapters, and Apple internal Bluetooth modules on PowerBooks and Power Macs. This firmware update will improve connectivity between the computer and the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Use this updater for the modules specified above; this updater is unsupported with any other Bluetooth modules. IMPORTANT: Using this firmware update will make your Bluetooth module incompatible with Windows based systems."

Beim Buch ist das ja nicht so relevant, da eingebaut, aber dennoch gut zu wissen, bei der nächsten Fremdhardware werde ich dann vorher doch nochmal genauer die Herstellerseiten lesen …
